About the Baltic Sea NGO Network, Denmark
Baltic Sea NGO Network, Denmark (previously DANFØ) is a
network for a number of Danish organisations and institutions
that work to promote civil society conditions and development in
the Baltic Sea region.
Baltic Sea NGO Network, Denmark is open to all Danish
associations and institutions with an interest in promoting the
network’s objectives.
Baltic Sea NGO Network, Denmark is part of the Baltic Sea-wide
NGO network, Baltic Sea NGO Network.
The network’s objectives are:
- to function as a common forum for Danish associations and
institutions from all sectors that are interested in promoting
cooperation between civil society organisations in the Baltic Sea
region, also with a view to cooperating with governmental and
international organisations in the Baltic Sea region - to promote economically, environmentally, culturally, socially,
democratically and security-related sustainable development
based on internationally recognized human rights through
strengthening civil society
In recent years, the network has focused its efforts on:
- Participation in Nordic civil society networks
- Cooperation with the Baltic Sea parliamentarians on
incorporating civil society views into their work - Development of a civil strategy for the EU’s Baltic Sea Strategy
with the involvement of civil society through cooperation with
civil society organisations from the other EU macro-regions (the
Danube region, the Adriatic and Ionian Seas region and the Alpine
region)
The Baltic NGO Network, Denmark holds several public meetings
per year. In the past year, an EU election meeting and a meeting
on language policy in the Baltic countries have been held. In
addition, a webinar series has been held on the Baltic Sea region
in times of crisis.
The network can publish statements on topics that are relevant
to the network’s objectives, e.g. the revision of the Baltic Sea
Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers and calls for the
Danish EU presidency 2025.
Finally, the network also contributes to the planning of
conferences and participates in projects in other Baltic Sea
countries.
